Home Based Care
The Diocese of Mpika has integrated a malaria
campaign into the Home Based Care Program. In
view of this, 100 caregivers were trained in malaria
issues earlier this year from 12 sites of the diocese
namely: Lukulu, Mpumba, Chilonga, Chiundaponde,
Muwele, Kopa, Chalabesa. Chambeshi, Tazara, St.
Joseph’s, St. Andrew’s and Katibunga. Caregivers
were empowered with skills to conduct a malaria
rapid test and to do case management in their
communities to help to decongest Rural Health
Centers. In addition, caregivers are expected to
conduct malaria sensitization campaigns in their
communities with emphasis on indoor residual
spraying, cleanliness and utilization of mosquito nets
as the safest way of combating malaria. Recently 96
caregivers were provided with bicycles and bags for
their work during a colourful ceremony.

Mulilansolo Parish
The priests and Christians of Mulilansolo parish are
thankful to Archbishop Chama for administering the
sacrament of confirmation in that parish.
The Christians welcomed the Archbishop on 24
August and then on Sunday 25 August 2013 he
celebrated Mass which was concelebrated by Fr.
Anthony Kapembwa. 39 people were confirmed
during mass. Thus 25 August was a joyous and
memorable day in the history of the parish.
At the end of the Mass the Christians greeted the
Archbishop with various gifts. In his speech the
Archbishop encouraged them to cooperate with their
priests and to pray to God so that HE can give Mpika
Diocese a bishop soon.

Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Kashimoto

“I celebrated my 23 rd
priestly anniversary in the
theatre, partly on the operation table and in the
recovery room, that is between 0930 and 1300 hrs, on
25 August 2013. I thank God for this. It gave me an
opportunity for some deeper personal reflection on
life and God’s mystery.
I would like to thank all the people that have been
praying and offering novena prayers for me and
trying to uplift me during this trying moment. Sincere
gratitude to all who visited me while at Fairview and
Zambia-Italian Orthopedic Hospitals and all those
who have continued to visit me at ZAF- Lusaka,
where I am still recuperating at my friend’s and
brother priest place, Lieutenant Colonel Fr. Nyambe.
Let me not forget to thank the Medical
Superintendent of Cardinal Adam Memorial
Hospital, Dr Agatha Lloyd, and her dedicated staff
for taking great care of me while at the Hospital. May
God bless you all!”
